U.S. Senate GOP releases COVID-19 response package; Your advocacy needed
On Monday, Senate Republicans released the Health, Economic Assistance, Liability Protection and Schools (HEALS) Act, a $1 trillion package aimed at addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the bill includes provisions directly impacting hospitals and health systems on the front lines treating COVID-19, the package fails to include new direct funding to states and localities, an increase in Federal Medical Assistance Percentage or provisions preventing the implementation of the Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Regulation. Though the HEALS Act falls far short of what we are advocating for in Congress, this is just the opening offer to begin negotiations. Please reach out to your members of Congress and urge them to talk with their leadership to ensure that our COVID-19 relief priorities are included in the final agreement.
