HHS updates Provider Relief Fund guidance

In recognition of concerns raised by HANYS and other stakeholders, HHS announced yesterday that it will reverse its Sept. 19 guidance on Provider Relief Fund reporting requirements.

With the reversal, hospitals can once again focus solely on revenue changes when applying PRF funds to lost revenue.

HANYS worked closely with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY), other New York congressional delegation members and the American Hospital Association to raise serious concerns that HHS’ Sept. 19 guidance could result in hospitals and health systems being forced to return critical PRF dollars in the midst of the ongoing pandemic. Moreover, the sudden change in guidance did not provide hospitals and health systems with needed flexibility during the ongoing pandemic.

HANYS appreciates that HHS moved quickly to improve its Sept. 19 guidance and we look forward to continuing to work with the administration, our delegation and our partners in Washington to ensure our members have the resources and flexibility needed to meet the demands of the ongoing pandemic.
