Senate reintroduces bill addressing resident physician shortage
The HANYS-supported Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act of 2021 was reintroduced in the Senate this week. This bipartisan legislation would supplement the investments in Graduate Medical Education made last year by further increasing the number of Medicare-supported residency slots in teaching hospitals by 14,000 over seven years. The House companion bill is expected to be reintroduced in the coming days.
We encourage you to contact your members of Congress to urge them to sign on as original cosponsors of the Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act.
