C2X

Innovations and best practices from NYS Coverdell stroke care program

Nov. 4
Webinar

Noon - 1 p.m.

This event is open to HANYS members and non-members.

Pre-hospital: Rapid identification by EMS using a standardized stroke scale and pre-notifying hospitals of suspected stroke are critical.

In hospital: Timely triage, including appropriate imaging, helps ensure stroke patients receive treatments within recommended clinical timeframes.

New York state has adopted performance measures for these key stroke care components. Join HANYS as we review best practices for these care processes, garnered by hospitals participating in a learning collaborative facilitated by the New York State Coverdell Program.

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • identify hospital-level barriers and best practices to:
    • encourage EMS to complete a standardized stroke scale and communicate findings as part of their prenotification,
    • improve timely imaging for stroke patients, and
    • achieve standards for timely triage and treatment of stroke patients using tissue plasminogen activator as associated with the Get With the Guidelines performance measure: arrive by two hours and administer tPA by three hours; and
  • describe and understand the methods used to identify the best practices presented.
