A dose of caution: Addressing medication safety in your organization

Sept. 21

Noon - 1 p.m.

This event is open to HANYS members and non-members.

Reducing the risk of patient harm from medication-related errors is a primary focus of every provider’s patient safety plan. Medication-related errors are a leading contributor to medical malpractice claims, with one out of every nine claims involving a medication issue.

Join HANYS, MLMIC Insurance Company and the law firm of Mercado May-Skinner as they discuss the leading factors contributing to medication-related error malpractice claims and present strategies to improve medication safety.

At the end of this presentation, you will be able to:

  • identify what constitutes a medication-related error and the leading factors contributing to medication error malpractice claims;
  • understand how the criminalization of adverse events impacts patient safety throughout healthcare; and
  • implement strategies to mitigate the risk of medication-related errors in your organization.

Mark Ambrose, Risk Management Consultant, MLMIC
