An overview of Lean concepts

Dec. 21, 2022
Webinar

Noon - 1 p.m.

This event is open to HANYS members and non-members.

Faced with serious cost and quality issues, healthcare providers increasingly look to improvement science methods like Lean to take their process improvement efforts to the next level. The Lean methodology takes its name from the concept of “eliminating waste.” Lean provides a structured approach to ensuring quality that extends beyond the quality department and becomes a foundation for creating a culture of excellence throughout the organization. During this webinar, process engineers from Northwell Health will review Lean concepts, tools and metrics through a real-life case study.

By the end of this webinar, you will be able to:

  • distinguish basic Lean concepts, including the eight key waste categories;
  • calculate Takt time, process cycle time and capacity, and apply Little’s Law to processes; and
  • understand the requirements and timing to run a Lean event.

This webinar is brought to you as part of HANYS' Healthcare Innovation and Lean Network of New York series.

Speakers:

Sally Chin, Process Improvement Engineer, Northwell Health

Shaghayegh Norouzzadeh , PhD, Senior Director of Operational Excellance, Northwell Health
