Promoting disability inclusion and equity: Approaches and best practices from Mount Sinai Health System

Equitable and effective healthcare for people living with disabilities goes beyond offering disability access devices. During this webinar, Barbara Warren, senior director, Mount Sinai Health System, will share key concepts to raise awareness of common biases impacting employee engagement in effective teamwork to enhance the patient experience and care. Warren will also provide patient- and employee-facing best practices.

By the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to

  • understand key disability concepts;
  • identify how bias and the processes of the unconscious mind impacts how we interact with people with disabilities, compromising inclusion and equity;
  • understand how unconscious bias impacts the work environment and patient experience; and
  • employ strategies to mitigate unconscious bias and practice conscious awareness to improve patient experience and the work environment through inclusion and effective communication.
