Health Care Association of New York State

Go to the gemba: The first step toward quality improvement

June 1
Webinar

Noon - 1 p.m.

This event is open to HANYS members and non-members.

Understanding the current state of a process is an essential first step in quality improvement. To chart a path forward, you need to know where you're starting from. Gathering details about the current state requires spending time at the location where the work is done, the “gemba.” This webinar will provide practical tips, exercises and real-life examples for effectively uncovering what is really happening within a process by going to the gemba.

During this webinar, participants will:

  • understand why it is important to go to the gemba;
  • learn how to conduct observations in the gemba; and
  • practice observing and documenting a process.

Speakers:

Brad Goodman, Clinical Systems Engineer, NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center

Wendy Yung, Clinical Systems Engineer, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital

This webinar is offered as part of HANYS' Healthcare Innovation and Lean Network of New York series.

If you have questions regarding registration, please contact Registration Support at learning@hanys.org or 518.431.7867.
