Briefing on New CON Regulations

DOH officials will update members on recent changes to the Certificate of Need (CON) program and progress toward implementing an electronic CON application form.
Under new regulations that went into effect in August, the cost threshold for full review applications rose from $10 million to $15 million and the administrative review threshold jumps from $3 million to $6 million. The regulations also combine two former review categories into a new Limited Review category for certain construction projects less than $6 million and streamline the review process for health information technology projects. Details of the regulatory changes are available on the DOH Web site.
