Addressing the behavioral health needs of veterans and their families is a challenge for many members of the armed forces upon returning home. Northwell Health, working in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), recently opened a first-of-its-kind facility that places behavioral health and primary care services for veterans and their families under one roof. The availability of behavioral health services for military personnel and their families is especially important for those struggling to adjust to their "new normal" once they return home. Before this center opened, veterans and families pursued assistance in separate care systems. Bringing them together for treatment gives specialists from Northwell Health and VA the opportunity to collaborate on positive outcomes.
