Loretta Willis Promoted to Vice President of HANYS Quality Division

ALBANY, N.Y. — Loretta B. Willis, R.N., B.S.N., C.C.M., C.P.H.Q., has been promoted to Vice President of the Healthcare Association of New York State’s (HANYS) Quality and Research Initiatives Division. She has served as Acting Vice President since August 2016.

HANYS’ Quality and Research Initiatives Division is the Association’s center for quality improvement, helping New York’s hospitals and health systems prioritize, manage, and sustain initiatives that improve patient care and outcomes. As Vice President, Ms. Willis provides strategic direction, planning, coordination, and oversight of the Association’s quality and patient safety advocacy agenda, related support programs, and federal and state contract initiatives.

“Loretta Willis is an outstanding, experienced healthcare quality leader who understands that quality and patient safety are the number one priority for New York’s hospitals and health systems,” commented Bea Grause, President, HANYS. “Quality improvement has taken on an even greater role as payment for care becomes more closely linked with quality outcomes, and as hospitals and health systems transform care delivery to be more efficient and patient-centered. In her new role, Loretta will guide the Association’s many quality improvement programs for members, and will be instrumental in shaping policy proposals related to healthcare quality.”

Ms. Willis is a registered nurse with more than 30 years of healthcare experience. Before joining HANYS in 2011, she served as the clinical director for case management, utilization management, and discharge planning for the national Medicare program at WellPoint. Her managed care experience also includes leadership roles in government programs, clinical utilization, case management, and quality improvement for Kaiser Permanente and Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan.

Her nursing experience includes medical/surgical nursing, maternal/child, infection control, and long-term care. As part of her maternal/child experience, Ms. Willis achieved her graduate board certifications as an international board certified lactation consultant, and a board certified childbirth educator.

Ms. Willis is a graduate of Russell Sage College in Troy, New York and is a board Certified Case Manager (CCM), and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
