HANYS President Bea Grause urges Legislature to protect and invest in New York’s healthcare system
ALBANY, NY – Bea Grause, RN, JD, president of the Healthcare Association of New York State, delivered testimony today to a legislative public hearing on the healthcare provisions of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposed 2019-2020 state budget. She urged legislators to protect and invest in New York’s healthcare system.
Speaking before the Joint Legislative Hearing of the Senate Finance and Assembly Ways and Means committees, Ms. Grause applauded Gov. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature for their leadership in supporting the transformation of healthcare delivery in the state. In partnership with the state, New York’s healthcare providers are creating a healthcare delivery system that is more patient-centric, with care coordinated across the continuum, while improving quality and bending the cost curve.
Ms. Grause expressed support for the governor’s initiatives to establish a commission to study options for achieving universal access to healthcare in New York and explained HANYS’ stance on numerous provisions in the executive budget proposal, detailed in HANYS’ written testimony.
HANYS is the only statewide hospital and continuing care association in New York state, representing non-profit and public hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies and other healthcare organizations.
