HANYS’ May 8-9 Events during AHA Annual Meeting

The American Hospital Association (AHA) will hold its Annual Membership Meeting in Washington, D.C., May 7 - 10 . In conjunction with the AHA meeting, HANYS will host a federal briefing on May 8, and a discussion session with New York's Senators on May 9, followed by a reception at the U.S. Botanic Garden.

The briefing, which will be held in conjunction with our colleagues at the California Hospital Association (CHA), Illinois Hospital Association (IHA), and Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP), will feature a bipartisan, bicameral panel of key Capitol Hill staff who will discuss congressional healthcare priorities this year and the latest efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

On Tuesday, May 9, HANYS will host a meeting for HANYS' members on Capitol Hill in the Capitol Visitors Center. We have invited both Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) to join us for this discussion session. For many years, Senator Schumer has joined us for this annual event. This will be his first year as Minority Leader of the U.S. Senate. We also look forward to hearing from Senator Gillibrand, who has accepted our invitation to attend.

Following the gathering in the Senate Visitors Center, we invite you to join your fellow hospital executives from California, New Jersey, Illinois, and Pennsylvania for a hosted reception at the U.S. Botanic Garden, a living plant museum and one of the oldest botanic gardens in North America. New York's Senators and New York State Congressional Delegation health staff will also be invited. The full gardens will be exclusively available to our associations for the evening. An informal meal will be served on site.

Please note that the House of Representatives will be out of session throughout the duration of the AHA Annual Meeting. We would be happy to help arrange for you to meet with health staff from your respective New York Delegation offices, upon request.
