Antibiotic Stewardship Collaborative Webinar: The Essential Role of Clinical Microbiology Laboratories in Antibiotic Stewardship

May 30, 2017

4 - 5 p.m.

Registration is open to HANYS Members Only.

Through our Antibiotic Stewardship Collaborative, HANYS is supporting members as they accelerate their focus on antibiotic stewardship. The Collaborative uses the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Core Elements of Hospital Antibiotic Stewardship Programs as a framework, and includes support for National Healthcare Safety Network reporting readiness.

This webinar will address the essential role of clinical microbiology laboratories in a broad hospital antibiotic stewardship program. Antibiotic Stewardship Programs (ASPs) aim to improve patient outcomes while limiting adverse drug events and antimicrobial resistance. ASPs and prescribing physicians depend on information and guidance from the clinical microbiology laboratory in order to accomplish these goals, making the laboratory vital to patient care and the success of ASPs.

All members of hospital stewardship teams are encouraged to participate. A formal commitment to the HANYS Antibiotic Stewardship Collaborative is not required to register for this program. Hospitals may join the Collaborative at any time.
