This webinar will explore a network created between emergency departments and outpatient substance use care providers in Western New York. This referral network, which focuses on inducting people onto buprenorphine in emergency department settings, represents a unique collaboration among an array of providers to meet the needs of the community. This webinar will also discuss how providers can use the harm reduction model to design these types of programs.

Through this webinar, you will learn:

  • how an emergency department and outpatient provider network for buprenorphine was developed in Western New York;
  • barriers and lessons learned with this network;
  • how this kind of network could be developed in other areas of New York State; and
  • the role of an outpatient provider that uses a harm reduction framework.
