Vaping: What NYS Providers Need to Know

The New York State Department of Health will provide an update about the status of vaping in New York state and answer questions about guidance and recommendations for clinicians.

Severe pulmonary disease among patients with recent vape use continues to be reported nationwide; with an active public health investigation underway to identify the cause. On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced a potential cause: vitamin E acetate.

DOH issued a detailed with guidance for treatment, diagnosis, billing and reporting of what is now being called e-cigarette or vaping product use associated lung injury (EVALI).
