Boost first case on-time starts using Lean Process Improvement

Operating rooms run on tight, complicated schedules, balancing patient needs with staff and surgeon availability. Everyone wants to start on time and no one wants to stay late — so why is it so difficult to get the first patients of the day in the OR within five minutes of the scheduled start time? At UR Medicine’s Strong Memorial Hospital, the low first case on-time start percentage spurred the need and desire to engage in a Lean Process Improvement initiative. This webinar will take you through the steps and tools used throughout the project, including project charter, SIPOC, data analysis, process mapping, benefit-effort matrix and solution implementation plan.

By the end of this webinar, participants will understand:

• the basic flow of a process improvement project; and
• basic tools used on a process improvement project.
