Training on APGs for OASAS-Certified Programs

HANYS will host a hospital-based training program on the implementation of Ambulatory Patient Groups (APGs) for Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) outpatient services. HANYS continues to work with the Department of Health (DOH), Office of Mental Health (OMH), and OASAS on the implementation of outpatient behavioral health APGs. For dually licensed hospital providers, DOH is anticipating an implementation date of October 1, 2010. At that time, all mental health, chemical dependency, and methadone clinics will begin using APGs.

  • Directors of Reimbursement

What you will learn

Participants will understand:

  • the new APG service categories; their clinical intent; and, any restrictions on what level of practitioner may deliver a particular service;
  • Medicaid claim submission and billing rules under the APG payment methodology; and
  • the OASAS APG Medicaid Revenue Calculator, an Excel spreadsheet tool developed to assist providers in projecting their Medicaid revenue for Part 822 Clinics and Part 828 Clinics during APG implementation.
