Advances in research have increased the complexity of medical diagnosis and treatment. Fortunately, hospitals have invested in technology and created new ways to train providers and help them practice the application of knowledge and skills to assess and manage their patients.
Albany Medical Center's Patient Safety and Clinical Competency Center houses simulation and clinical training resources that are used to educate healthcare professionals and students. The center serves as a resource for the hospital, the medical college, and a variety of healthcare providers throughout the region. The Center, which offers cutting-edge patient simulation training tools, as well as role—playing with trained actors to simulate patient exams and consultations, is available to medical professionals from across the region for clinical competency assessment, and to smaller regional hospitals and emergency response units.
