Statement by HANYS President Bea Grause on the Congressional Budget Office Score of AHCA
ALBANY, N.Y. — “HANYS has consistently maintained that any replacement plan must include healthcare coverage that is at least as expansive as under the Affordable Care Act. The Congressional Budget Office’s official score confirms that the American Health Care Act fails to meet this test by a wide margin. Twenty-three million Americans would become uninsured over the next decade, and up to 2.7 million New Yorkers could be at risk of losing coverage under this bill. In addition, deep Medicaid cuts and restructuring would undermine the healthcare system and jeopardize access to needed care. HANYS will continue to oppose legislation that reduces insurance coverage, and advocate for healthcare policies that support healthcare and provide access to meaningful health coverage for all.”
The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is the only statewide hospital and continuing care association in New York State, representing 500 non-profit and public hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies, and other healthcare organizations.
