Statement by Bea Grause, President Healthcare Association of New York State, Regarding E-Prescribing Legislation
ALBANY, N.Y. – “HANYS thanks Governor Cuomo and state lawmakers for providing healthcare providers with the tools and flexibility to remain nimble in the ever-evolving healthcare landscape. The Governor has signed legislation (A.9335-B Gottfried/S.6779-B Hannon) that will help physicians and other prescribers by streamlining documentation requirements in rare circumstances when an exception to the state’s e-prescribing mandate, authorized by the original I-STOP law, must be used. This law will reduce a significant burden and ensure that the use of any exception is clearly documented as part of a patient’s health record. HANYS and our members statewide fully support the state’s e-prescribing mandate for its benefits to patient safety and public health.”
